Week 34: cages

“…Sometimes I feel like my life / is a wild beast / trapped in an unlocked cage / and it is awfully / afraid of what lies / on the other side. // That is what hell is like; / having something / viciously brilliant inside of you, / but not believing in it enough / to set it free.”

There is no guarantee of another moment to breathe. So what is there to wait for? There is no cage. Only a mind and a heart that deceive us into believing we’re not good enough, that we don’t have what it takes. When all along we always have.

What lie has told us that we are what we are not, that we are not what we are? Find your truth elsewhere, apart from the heart and the mind, which do not always tell the truth.

We are more than the lies we may believe.
