Week 22: George Floyd

There are really no words to describe how I felt watching a clip of that horrific video. A stinging mixture of anger, sorrow, grief, helplessness.

As a white, middle class male, I am privileged. Living in one of the whitest states in the country, I am isolated from much of the greater national racial tension.

We (I) will never fully understand, unless we are (I am) in another’s shoes. That’s not wrong, it’s just reality.

In the recently released “Les Misérables” there is a quote that seems apt. When a white police officer attempts to quell a recent incident of white police violence against a black boy, a man responds, “What if voicing anger was the only way to be heard?”
